Nature Play SA

Nature Play SA aims to make outdoor play an everyday part of childhood. Throughout 2017 we created a series of films highlighting Nature Play events including International Mud Day, Cubby Day, Flinders Uni Spring Fest and Outdoor Classroom Day. It was exhilarating watching the children get stuck into nature as they got wet, muddy and creative.

Spinifex Arts Project

In August 2017 Living Stories headed west to film the artists creating work for the Spinifex Arts Project in Western Australia. We spent a week in Tjuntjuntjara and Ilkurlka, filming the artists, going out bush and marvelling at the stunning landscapes.

We produced a film highlighting some of the artists and their stories, which screened alongside their paintings in an exhibition at the Japingka Gallery, Fremantle.

Murri School

The Healing Foundation has been working with the Murri School in Brisbane to improve education and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Living Stories created a short documentary highlighting the benefits of the program at the Murri School.

A Murri School student is twice as likely to complete year 12 compared to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Queensland. Cost benefit analysis of the program found that it saves taxpayers $6.5 million dollars a year through improved educational outcomes.

The students, their families and the staff go bush camping together developing closer relationships and understanding. This has resulted in higher rates of school attendance and engagement and ultimately better academic results. It’s wonderful to see the students thrive and succeed.

AusBiotech Conference 2017

AusBiotech 2017 is the largest life sciences conference that has been held in Australia. Living Stories was asked to profile South Australian companies and provide social media content throughout the conference for TechInSA.

It was an eye-opener to learn about all kinds of new technologies and innovations being created in South Australia’s biomedical industry. We had the opportunity to film within the new BioMed City, at SAHMRI and the Tonsley precinct, highlighting businesses and people making exciting discoveries and leaps forward in science.

There was a real buzz around new jobs and developments and we created over 30 pieces of film content during the conference.

The Climate Reality Project

One of the highlights of our year was filming the students at Cowandilla Primary School for Al Gore’s 2017 The Climate Reality Project. These students have been recognised globally for their achievements in fighting climate change.

Living Stories worked with ShoulderHill Productions in New York to create a short documentary about the school that was featured in the 24 Hours of Reality online event. Almost 100,000 people watched the film while it was streamed.

Burnside Hospital Day Surgery

Burnside Hospital recently opened its new Day Surgery development. Living Stories created a film to showcase the new space and document the process. It is a beautiful, relaxing, modern space that allows patients to wait for their surgery in peace, whilst overlooking the lovely gardens below. The film combined interviews, shots of the surroundings and time-lapse to give a full sense of the new space.

The Best of Adelaide’s Natural Parks

The Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources wanted to highlight the State Government’s commitment to invest $10.4 million in SA parks. We were delighted to have the opportunity to visit some beautiful places in SA and create a short film to show off the beautiful places to visit in SA. We spent a day exploring the amazing Cobbler’s Creek playground, some beautiful walking tracks in the hills, and the great new boardwalk at Hallett Cove! Former Premier Jay Weatherill was keen to feature the film on his Facebook page and it’s had more the 4000 views so far.

Family Business Australia

We were privileged to be a sponsor for the Family Business Australia Hall of Fame Awards.

As part of this sponsorship, we created films about the two South Australian businesses, d’Arenberg Wines and Sar Major that were inducted into the FBA Hall of Fame at the event.

The films were shown at the FBA dinner and Alison attended the night, also giving a speech as a special guest.

Ennio International

Ennio, what an experience!

Ennio International approached us after the Family Business Australia (FBA) gala dinner, to create a film to take to an upcoming trade fair in Germany. The multi-location shoot was packed full of fun, quality products and wonderful people. We even learnt a bit about meat packaging along the way!

After some hard and fast work by our post-production team, the result was a beautiful piece of film, which saw an international audience.
